Carr Head Primary

Our mission statement is to prepare the children of today to flourish in the world of tomorrow through nurturing mind, body and soul.

PE & Sports Premium Funding

In 2016-17, 94% of pupils met or exceeded the swimming standards at the end of KS2.

The government is spending over £450 million on improving physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools. This extra funding is allocated directly to primary school head teachers; at Carr Head our grant has been spent in the following ways:

Hiring qualified sports coaches to work alongside teachers when teaching PE

The school has linked with the services of Wyre and Fylde Schools Sports Partnership to deliver PE lessons and after school clubs alongside our staff. This initiative will benefit all children from the Early Years Foundation Stage through to Year 6.  Not only will the children benefit from being taught by a member of the Wyre and Fylde Schools Sports Partnership, but our own staff will be developed through sharing good practice and assisting in the PE lessons and extra-curricular sport clubs. The sports package has been designed to enhance our PE provision and to raise the profile of PE within school.

Providing places for pupils for after school sport club

Our school already offers a range of after school clubs, accessed by children from Key Stages one and two. These clubs will continue to run as before, however by investing in teacher training there will be more after school activities provided as the school year progresses.

Increasing participation in school sport

As well as working in partnership with Wyre and Fylde Schools Sports Partnership, Mrs Haines will be working harder than ever in promoting the participation in team games. The sports teams are practising after school and we are looking to introduce coaching sessions during lunch time so that all children can participate in team events.

Development of the Teaching Staff

All teaching staff have access to sport related CPD which they then disseminate to colleagues in order to share excellent practice.
