Carr Head Primary

Our mission statement is to prepare the children of today to flourish in the world of tomorrow through nurturing mind, body and soul.

The school curriculum follows the 2014 National Curriculum with an education relevant for today's society. Children are taught in seven single age classes.  The Early Years and Key Stage 1 consists of three infant classes: Oak (EYFS), Y1 and Y2. Key Stage 2 covers four single age classes: Y3, Y4, Y5 and Y6. Teaching and Learning Assistants provide additional academic and emotional support for children throughout the school.

Curriculum coverage provides opportunities to develop skills in a vast array of subjects: English, mathematics, science, history, geography, computing, design and technology, physical education, art and design, music, religious education and personal, social, and health education (PSHE). In addition to this, French is taught throughout KS2. Many of these subjects are taught cross curricular and through a themed approached. The Oxford Reading Tree scheme is used alongside Letters and Sounds and Jolly Phonics to support the development of reading and phonics within school.

The British Values of

The Rule of Law,

Individual Liberty and

Mutual Respect and Tolerance for those of different faith and beliefs

are embedded throughout the curriculum and in the wider life of the school. The Junior Leadership Team, Eco Group and School Council are democratically elected as representatives across school. The ethos of the school promotes respect for all and the use of the Family Values scheme complements the focus on British values.

There are policies on all subject areas of the curriculum and these are available from the Head Teacher on request.
