Pupil Premium 2016 - 17


In 2016-17 Carr Head will continue to use the Pupil Premium Grant in line with the school strategy to meet the needs of identified pupils in the coming year. The grant will be in the region of £62 000.

Main barriers to educational achievement:

  • Attendance and punctuality;
  • Emotional needs due to ongoing or historical events in the child's life;
  • Limited academic support from home.

  • Nurture group (Friendship Room) support - to develop life skills and coping strategies, building social and emotional resilience. A happy child is a child capable of learning;
  Children have the strategies to manage their emotions effectively and safely within school. Incidents and severity of poor behaviour are reduced.

  • 1:1 counselling and play therapy sessions - bespoke support designed to enable the child to develop at a pace that meets their complex needs;

  • Breakfast club - provides a calm, secure start to the school day. Provides a nutritious breakfast in an inclusive environment;
    Increased attendance and punctuality for children that attend Breakfast club. Impacts on their readiness to learn at the start of the day.
