Carr Head Primary

Our mission statement is to prepare the children of today to flourish in the world of tomorrow through nurturing mind, body and soul.

Year 2

Spring Term in Year 2

Day to day:

Children need to have their reading books in school every day. They need to be reading every night and discussing what they have read with an adult. We will change their book when we feel they are able to read it fluently and show a good level of understanding.

P.E. continues to be on a Monday and a Friday.

Homework will be set on a Friday and will need to be back in by the following Wednesday. The homework set might not always be written homework. For example, it might be to practise recall of number facts.

Our first unit of work in English this term will be ‘Stories with a familiar setting’ and persuasive writing.  In Maths, we will start the term off by improving our understanding of place value. Within this unit we will look at rounding numbers to the nearest multiple of 10.  Our topic will be ‘Family Album’ where we are learning about the Royal Family. In science, we will be looking at everyday materials and their uses. Further details of the curriculum will be posted on the relevant page on the school website. Keep checking it for updates.

Thank you for your continued support.
