Personal, Social and Health Education / Relationships, Sex and Health Education
Welcome To
Personal, Social, Health and Economics Education (P.S.H.E) and Relationships, Sex and Health Education (R.S.H.E)
At Carr Head Primary School, our Relationships, Sex and Health Education (R.S.H.E) curriculum aims to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and values they need to live healthy, safe, fulfilled and responsible lives, both now and in the future. Through our P.SH.E curriculum, we aim to give pupils the knowledge that will enable them to make informed decisions about their wellbeing, health and relationships to embrace the challenges of creating a happy and successful life. We encourage pupils to develop the skills to put this knowledge into practice as they develop the capacity to make sound decisions when facing risks, challenges and complex contexts. We believe that effective P.S.H.E / R.S.E education can encourage young people to develop resilience, to know how and when to ask for help, and to know where to access support.
Through high quality, evidence-based and age-appropriate teaching of P.S.H.E pupils can become more prepared for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of adult life. It also enables the Carr Head family to promote the spiritual, moral, social, cultural, mental and physical development of pupils, at school and in society according to legislation.
We aim to ensure that P.S.H.E is inclusive and meets the needs of all our pupils, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We aim to ensure that P.S.H.E fosters gender quality and LGBT+ equality.
We have recently adopted the ‘1Decision’ scheme to support P.S.H.E, S.M.S.C development and safeguarding. The D.f.E statutory guidance has been updated for September 2026 and 1Decision resources have been aligned with these changes to support school. By using 1Decision comprehensive resources, we assure full compliance with the new statutory guidance whilst allowing a flexible 21st century approach to P.S.H.E.
